Together with the Zurich Children's Hospital, we are implementing the first smart hospital in Switzerland. The new building project by Herzog & de Meuron includes the in-house localization of people and objects using IoT sensors and the integration of this data into hospital processes.

«Asset Tracking» use case

With this feature, all sensor data can be called up live and historically to track where which item has been located and for how long. Operating instructions can also be managed centrally and assets can be grouped together.

«People Tracking» use case

Within the hospital, it is important to know where which people are located. In pandemic cases in particular, quick access to this information is extremely important. With Eliona, people can be searched for, grouped together (patient, clinical staff, etc.) and evaluated in a data protection-neutral manner.

«Way Finding» use case

In a hospital with various disciplines, branching paths and different floors, it is difficult for visitors to find their way around. In addition, departments can change location in an agile environment, making permanently installed signposts obsolete. With Eliona, visitors can easily find their way around and are navigated through the building via a digital signpost. In addition, warnings and up-to-date information can be published via the visitor interface.

«Datenanalyse» use case

An infrastructure only becomes smart when the collected data is also processed for specific analysis purposes. The Eliona smart building assistant not only tracks and controls, but also analyzes the data. Specific measures are derived from this information using AI algorithms, rule-based or manually. In the KISPI, this means that people and object flows in the hospital are analyzed for problem or optimization factors.

For example, it is possible to find out how many hospital beds have been in use for how long and where in order to justify a new acquisition or evaluate potential savings.
